What to Write in a Father’s Day Card

At a loss of how to communicate to Dad how you feel? With Father’s Day fast approaching on Sunday, June 20, 2021 it’s normal to feel a little pressure on what to do to show him how you feel.

There are an abundance of gift ideas out there for dads, but sometimes the simplest approach is the best approach.  Putting down into words what dad means to you can seem intimidating but we are here to provide you with a few examples and ideas to express to your father (or father-figure!) how much he really means to you.

Wrinkle and Crease Father's Day Cards

At Wrinkle and Crease we have a number of Father's Day card options.  We like to provide options that you won't typically find in other stores, or at your local grocery store.

The first one is completely blank inside so you can write your own personal message.  It says happy Father's day on the front.

Happy Father's Day Card

The second one is also blank on the inside, but has some additional writing on the front.  This way you don't have to come up with all of the message yourself.  you can use the front part and then add some personal stuff on the inside.  Check it out.

The Dear Dad Father's Day Card

Ok so How Do I Get Started

Before writing anything, start with the easy part and pick out a great card. Choose one that exemplifies your relationship; Serious father?Serious card. Goofy dad? Goofy card.  Sports dad? Sportsy (??) card. You get the gist! And let’s not forget - dads come in all forms - why not give a card to the man who stepped up to be the father figure you needed:Here’s another card we love

In any case, there are a plethora of cards on the market, choose one that speaks to the relationship you have withyour dad.

You can Always Keep it Short and Sweet

There are a lot of dads out there who aren’t really your warm-and-fuzzy-love-the- mushy-stuff kinda guys. If this is your dad and you feel like like you want to keep it simple and concise, here are some options for you:

  • You’re the best dad a girl (or guy) could ask for! Love you!
  • Dad, thank you for always being there when I needed you - Happy Father’s Day!
  • Dad, I’ve always appreciated your wisdom and support. I love you!
  • Can’t wait to get out and hit the links with you, Dad! Happy Father’s Day!
  • Dad - I have the best memories of you as my father and hope for many, many more in the years ahead! Happy Father’s Day!
  • A wise man once told me to never sweat the small stuff and I still hold that to be true (FYI - you are that wise man!) Happy Father’s Day!
  • Looking forward to our next hunting trip. Happy Father’s Day.
  • Dad - thanks for always spoiling me and treating me like a princess - you always make me feel so loved!
  • Dad, you’re still my favourite guy to chat about - well - anything with. Love you!
  • Dad, I could not have been more lucky to grow up with a father like you.
  • I feel so blessed that God provided me with the greatest father to guide me through this world. Happy Father’s Day!

A Little More Substance

Dads have caught a bad rap for not appreciating emotions and shying away from  sentimental feelings.  But, come on! Who doesn’t want to read a bunch of nice things about themselves? Here are a few ideas to get a little more in-depth on how you feel about Dad.

  • Dad, Growing up in our family, I always appreciated how much you did for me and my sister/brother. You exemplified the idea of what a father should be in every way possible. I am who I am today because of how much you loved me. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us,  you are so loved! Happy Father’s Day!
  • Dad, Thank you for always knowing the right thing to say, always having my back and loving me even during those terribly rebellious teenage years.  You are truly the most patient, kind and loving man I know.  Happy Father’s Day!
  • Dad, I’ve never really told you before, but I hope you know how much you mean to me.  Now that I’m a father, I can really appreciate all of the sacrifices you made to make sure we had the best childhoods.  You are truly an incredible man who I am proud to call my father - I love you very much!

A Few Other Ideas

Relationships with dads are not always cookie cutter. Here are just a few options for some of the more unique relationships with our fathers.

To the Single Parent:

  • Dad, I want you to know how much I appreciate all of the challenges you faced raising us as a single parent.  Everything you did for us you did out of love. I know that you did everything you could to provide us with an incredible life after we lost Mom. I can’t imagine how difficult that must have been and I want you to know how much I love you.  Thank you for being the best father we could have ever asked for.

To the Man Who is Like a Father:

  • I am so grateful to have you in my life. You were there for me when I was lost and needed a father-figure and I will never forget everything you have done and still do for me. You are an incredibly special man, and I hope you know how much you are loved. Happy Father’s Day!

To the Dad You Haven’t Spoken to in Awhile:

  • Hi Dad, I know it’s been a long time and that I haven’t always been receptive to us having a close relationship. But I want you to know that I’m hoping we can start slow and begin to heal some of the wounds from our past. Life moves quickly and I don’t want to have any regrets. I hope we can begin to change our relationship. Happy Father’s Day.

From one Father to Another:

  • Dad, growing up I may not have always understood the decisions you made, or appreciated the wisdom you shared - but now that I am a father I recognize the amazing man that you were and are still.  I only hope that I can be half the father you are and pass along that same guidance and love to my family. You are an inspiration and a role model. Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day!

p.s.  Forgetting about fathers day or a birthday can be easy to do. A daily planner or yearly planner is a great tool for keeping track of dates.  It's also a great place to write down ideas before the special day that will help you create the right message in your card.  Often great ideas come at random times, and having a place to write them down so you can reference them later is critical.  Check out our selection of planners, notepads and notebooks.
